Hardwood pergolas in Birmingham

Extend your living space outdoors with a bespoke hardwood pergola or garden structure — designed for your garden and built to weather beautifully.

A well-built pergola turns a patio into an outdoor room. We design and build freestanding and wall-mounted pergolas, canopies and garden structures in durable hardwood, sized and shaped for your garden rather than pulled off a flat-pack shelf.

Built with seasoned timber and traditional joinery, each frame is made to stand up to the British weather for years. The same hands that build our staircases and fitted joinery make your pergola.

Pergola FAQs

Hardwood pergolas in Birmingham, answered

Which timber is best for an outdoor pergola?

We build garden structures in durable hardwoods such as oak, iroko and idigbo, chosen for their natural resistance to the British weather. Left untreated they silver gracefully; oiled, they keep a warmer tone.

Will a hardwood pergola weather or warp?

Solid hardwood is far more stable outdoors than softwood. We use seasoned timber and traditional joinery so the frame stays true, and we can oil it on handover and advise on simple yearly upkeep.

Do I need planning permission for a pergola?

Most domestic pergolas fall under permitted development, but height and position near boundaries can matter — and rules differ for listed buildings and conservation areas. We will flag anything worth checking with your local authority before we build.

How is the pergola fixed down?

Depending on the surface we fix to concrete pads, existing patio slabs or set posts into the ground, so the structure is stable and level for the long term.
